Love knows no gender!
Escape with us into The Bush, where Gods hang out and love can strike unexpectedly. Galathea: Into The Bush is a modern adaptation of Galathea by John Lyly, renowned contemporary of Shakespeare. Some liken this to a cross between A Midsummer Night's Dream and Romeo & Juliet. The original play features a forest inhabited by Gods and a pair of star-crossed lovers - who are, as its happens, both female. Updated with modern language and fresh characters, Galathea: Into the Bush promises to be a rainbow of representation!Come be part of the celebrations for the 30th anniversary of Homosexual Law Reform! Fun and fantasy awaits you, whether you're gay, straight or everything in between, this is a love story everyone can relate to. Our production is fun, playful and a little bit fantastical. |

Why Queer Theatre?
This year is the 30th anniversary of the Homosexual Law Reform in New Zealand and we want to be a part of Wellington’s celebrations of this great achievement while also pushing our audience to experience a more diverse range of queer identities. Wellington has a large, vibrant queer community we want to celebrate and engage from beginning to end. The queer community has a long tradition of exciting, provocative and challenging performances that explore gender and sexuality, and we are inspired by this cultural tradition in our work. Additionally, as queer theatre practitioners, we have found that we rarely get to perform characters that share our identity and experiences.
